Revelation: Righteousness by Faith The Throne Revelation 4:2–3 (2) At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. (3) And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. John was brought into the Spirit and went through that door of heaven into the heavenly temple. There he found a throne. The Father is described here as having the appearance of jasper and carnelian. The rainbow is described as resembling an emerald. These stones are found in the temple service of the Old Testament, which again points to a heavenly temple: Exodus 28:16–20 (16) It shall be square and doubled, a span its length and a span its breadth. (17) You shall set in it four rows of stones.
