Revelation: Created by His Will
Revelation: Justification by Faith
Created by His Will
Revelation 4:9
And whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11 “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created.”
God deserves our honor. He deserves to be attributed with power, glory, and honor, and to be held in high esteem.
Sometimes the question may arise as to why God would have the right to this. Why should we keep His commandments? Who is He that we should submit to Him? Why does He have the right to our entire life so that we glorify His Name?
The answer lies primarily in creation.
God created us for this purpose. Every moment we live, we owe to Him. There is not a single moment where He does not actively sustain us through His power. And it is through Him that humanity was created out of nothing.
In this last book of the Bible, we find ourselves returning to the very first book:
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
The psalmist, who gives more words of praise than any other with 119 chapters, says the same:
Psalm 148:1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD from the heavens;
praise Him in the heights!
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
praise Him, all His hosts!
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
praise Him, all you shining stars!
4 Praise Him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the Name of the LORD,
for He commanded and they were created.
6 He established them forever and ever;
He gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.
It is for this reason that He deserves all honor and has a rightful claim over us.
But even though He may do all that He wills, He is not a tyrant.
Because God is love.
