Revelation: Creation Praises Him
Revelation: Justification by Faith
Creation Praises Him
Revelation 5:11
Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders. And their number was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,
12 saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing."
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, I heard saying:
“To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and power, forever and ever.”
14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.
In this chapter, we again see a piece of doxology, a hymn of praise to the glory of God.
The four living creatures, the countless angels, the creatures, and the 24 elders all praise God and the Lamb. They give the Lamb, in one breath, the same honor as the Father.
And rightly so!
For this is what Jesus says about Himself:
John 17:1
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
2 just as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him."
John 17:5
And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
And Hebrews:
Hebrews 1:1
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,
2 whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son”?
6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”
7 And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire,”
8 but to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
The scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of righteousness.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
10 And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12 Like a cloak You will fold them up,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not fail.”
13 But to which of the angels has He ever said:
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?
When Jesus ascended into heaven, He received the kingdom in His name. Now, He sits at the right hand of God as the Most High. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father.
Now, we wait for everything to be truly subjected to Him. Everything still needs to be fulfilled.
Psalm 148 also gives such an honor from everything. Here, the sun and the moon, which are under Him, also honor Him. For everything speaks of Him:
Psalm 148:1
Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created.
6 He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;
8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds,
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
9 Mountains and all hills,
Fruit trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle,
Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples,
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He has exalted the horn of His people,
The praise of all His saints—
Of the children of Israel, a people near to Him.
Praise the Lord!
He has exalted the horn, the strength and honor, of His people. Through Jesus, we have been made kings and priests. Through Him, we have been set free. Through Him, we were created. And all things were made through Him.
This is what our doxology should be about.
